Was there a raging fire seen on the Moon in the end of 1995?

A reader reports that America Online, or some related service, published a 'news story' that a raging fire had been seen on the Moon, but that astronomers are so shocked that they are with holding this discovery pending further analysis....or something. In other words, NASA is actively censoring this story. Sounds like a story right out of the tabloid press to me.

The problem is that, few citizens bother to pay much attention to the sky anymore, and are too forgiving of people who promote ideas that are nonsensical. How could fires 'rage' on the Moon if there is no atmosphere? Why do some people seem to think that scientists actively censor data that doesn't conform to their expectations?

Recently, physicists at Fermilab in Illinois presented interesting evidence that their MAY be structure inside quarks. If so, this discovery is confirmed in the next few years it will SPELL THE END of over 30 years of theoretical work by hundreds of influential physicists including Nobel lauriats!!! Yet, despite the ramifications, this new evidence was rushed into publication less than a year after the measurements were begun!

Compared to this, the 'discovery' of a so-called raging fire on the Moon would be child's play!!!
