Where can I get public-domain star charts for resale?

There are star maps over at the data archive provided by the Students for the Exploration of Space which is run by Guy McArthur (smiley@seds.lpl.arizona.edu) at the Lunar and Planetary Lab in Tucson Arizona. You should ask him if they are in the Public Domain.

If you want a real spiffy, high quality star map, check out the Mt Wilson Observatory Home Page under Services and call up their StarMap facility. You will be emailed a Postscript file of an actual star chart showing hundreds of stars. Email the webmaster of that site to see if the postscript files are also in the Public Domain!

There are also planetarium programs such as Home Planet that can create simple charts.
