The Crescent Moon is a phase between the time the Moon is half-illuminated by the Sun as seen from the Earth, and New Moon. The Waxing Crescent is seen in the early evening sky between New Moon and First Quarter when the Moon is 1/2 illuminated. Waning Crescent is seen in the early morning sky just before sunrise when the Moon is between Third Quarter and New Moon.
