Very massive stars that are 10 - 50 times the Sun live only a few 100 million years. The Sun will live about 10 billion years, and stars 1/10 the mass of the Sun or so can live up to 100 billion and even 1 trillion years. The lifetime of a star depends almost exclusively on its mass.
