I found a number of references by searching under 'amateur radio astronomy' on the web. Here is one Page that looks promising. When I started answering questions at Ask the Astronomer/The Astronomy Cafe, the field of amateur radio astronomy was just getting its legs underneath itself. Now you can buy a variety of dishes, receivers and other components that would have put 1940's astronomers to shame! Also, you can visit the Radio Jove program that lets you build a receiver for about $100.00 to listen to radio storms on Jupiter!
