Why do bodies have gravitational fields?

We actually do not know why there are gravitational fields in the universe. It seems to be just a part of the way the universe and the physical world exist. There are many of these kind of 'ultimate' questions that have no answers. All we can do is describe how the forces act, and their relationships to one another. That's quite a lot to do just by itself!
