Many people ask similar questions, even in this most recent batch! There is no easy way to visualize the universe because we insist on seeing its shape from a perspective that is mathematically and physically incorrect. This leads to many conceptual problems and confusion. For example, when we hear about the universe expanding, we insist on thinking about the universe like a fireworks display, but in fact ( so far Big Bang theory is concerned) the universe is NOT expanding into a pre-existing 3-dimensional space. Instead, in some sense, it is creating 3-dimensional space as it goes along. The expansion takes place in time not in space. This is very hard stuff for humans to accept unless they have spent a lot of time with the mathematics.
