Could the fact that everything is imploding explain why the universe looks like it is expanding?

Well... it is not at all a 'fact' that everything is imploding. Protostars might do so temporarily while evolving into stable stars, but the universe as a whole is definitly expanding, and this is not an optical illusion based on our possible peculiar motion.
