Probably. According to Einstein's definition of spacetime, it is the embodiment of the gravitational field of the universe itself. Gravitational fields like presumably all physical fields represent the interplay of virtual particles. This means that if you do away with virtual particles, including the particles mediating the gravitational force and defining the gravitational field, you are doing away with spacetime itself. This is not good. Totally empty space would be empty of gravity and space-time, and just another way of saying that you have done away with the very existence of the universe.
