Are X-ray telescopes more important than other kinds?

No. They just provide more information at wavelengths that other types of telescopes cannot work at. Because X-rays are only produced through violent, high energy reactions between matter, they provide us with our closest look at how solar flares are produced, how pulsars and neutron stars interact with their environment, and how black holes actually swallow matter.
