If you drew a line bisecting the tips of the last quarter Moon, why does this give the wrong Sunrise time?

This method will not work to estimate sunrise. If you draw a line between the tips of the crescent Moon, and then drew another line bisecting this line and perpendicular to it, the Sun would be located on this line, but there is nothing about the geometry of the Moon, the curve of the crescent or anything else that would tell you how far along the Sun is located on that line.
