There is no pulsar in this nebula, nor are there any variable stars or flare stars in or near it! I cannot imagine what it might have been that was seen. It would have been very unlikely to have been the 'sun glint' off of an Earth satellite, but I can't rule that out. Nor can I rule out an airplane or jet, or even a meteor. Not enough information was given about the time of night.
